Setlist

Bring your log · Spreadsheet or document

From a spreadsheet to Setlist.

Excel, a CSV with one row per set, or a Word document. Reviewed before anything is saved.

1. Get the file out

Menu names as of October 2026.

Excel, WordOpen the file, tap ⋯, then Send a Copy.
NumbersTap More, then Export, then CSV or Excel.

2. Open it in Setlist

  1. Send the copy and tap Setlist in the share sheet.
  2. Or save it to Files. In Setlist: your photo, Settings, Data, Import history, Choose a file.

Pick several files at once and they arrive in one review.

3. What Setlist reads

CSV, one row per set

A header row naming a date, an exercise, and reps or weight. Column order doesn't matter.

ColumnNames it knows
Date (needed)Date, Start time, Workout date, Day
Exercise (needed)Exercise, Exercise name, Movement, Lift
Reps or weight (one needed)Reps, Repetitions; Weight, Load, Weight (kg), lbs
WorkoutWorkout, Workout name, Title, Session
AlsoSet, Unit, Notes, RPE, RIR
  • Comma or semicolon separated.
  • One workout per workout name per day.
  • Day-first or month-first dates, told from the whole file.
  • kg or lbs from the column name or a unit column, else asked.

Excel (.xlsx)

Each sheet is read. A sheet with that header in its first five rows reads by column. Any other sheet reads row by row, like a written log.

Formulas give their saved values. A merged cell's value fills every cell it covers.

Word (.docx)

Each paragraph is a line of a written log. A table with Exercise and Reps columns reads by column; Sets and Weight too.

How a written log is read

4. Review before saving

Nothing is saved until you tap Import.

MatchedNames Setlist can show are the same exercise in its library.
QuestionsNames that may be a library exercise, shown beside your own log.
New exercisesNames kept as yours, as your file wrote them.
Already hereWorkouts Setlist has. Skipped unless you switch one on.
Not readLines nothing could read, shown as written.
WeightsPounds or kilograms, asked when the file doesn't say.

Questions it may ask

  • Which lift is this? Pick the exercise, another one, or keep it as its own.
  • Two lifts under one name. “DB Row”: one-arm or bent-over, workout by workout.
  • Timed holds logged as reps. Were these seconds?
  • Weight on a body-weight lift. Weighted sets to the weighted exercise, or keep as logged.
  • One side at a time. Count reps for each side; the weight stays as logged.

Unanswered names stay as their own exercises. You can match them later.

5. What moves

MovesDates, workout names, exercises, sets, reps, weight, notes, RPE as reps in reserve
Not readFormatting, charts, colors and comments
SessionsOne per workout name from the last 12 months

A line or row nothing could read is listed as written, never guessed.

6. Undo

  • One name. Settings, Data, Matched names. Move its workouts to another exercise, keep it as its own, or go back to an earlier choice.
  • The whole import. Undo import on the summary, or under Imports on Matched names.

Workouts you logged in Setlist since stay where you logged them.
